Final Theory - Proposal

Theory into Practice Final Product Proposal

Reflection on theory (reference all)

The narrative theory is something that interested me since I did it at GCSE so I already knew some of the theories, but I didn’t like the process of writing Freytag’s theory since it took a very long time to complete and I struggled writing it.
Authorship was confusing for me and I didn’t really understand it.
I really enjoyed the montage theory since it forced us to use the footage we could find rather than our own footage. I found this really interesting and found all of the initial theory work interesting too, apart from watching Man with a Movie Camera, which wasn’t as interesting as initially anticipated.
Surrealism was a good theory since it made us all think outside the box.
The Brecht theory was the most confusing of them all.

How this has led to a final idea (discuss theory for project)

For my final idea, I am going to be using montage theory. I’m going to be using this since theory because I feel like it was the easiest to understand and would allow me to express my ideas to the fullest.

Proposal for form of final product

For my final theory into practice product, I want to give the viewer different emotions on either end of the spectrum. For example, happiness and sadness, two emotions that are only associated with each other due to being polar opposites.

I want to use something that people find cute and put a twist into the montage to make them feel sad or upset or something along those lines.

My idea is to make a montage of cute puppies with happy, calm and peaceful music in the background, but add in videos of dogs being put down with people crying to make them feel upset. My objective is to make the viewer now know how to feel, happy or sad.
